Hello, I am Elena

I am a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Barcelona, Spain.

Several years ago, my family and I moved here. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter in life overseas.

How It Began

Moving to Spain wasn’t in our long-term plan. Like many relocations by expats, it started as a work chance and soon grew into something much more significant.

The opening months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more complex than they should.

The Adjustment Period

There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt stable.

Why I Created Basalt Quiet View

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.

This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice based on real life in Spain.

What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)

This site is:

  • Hands-on experience from living in Spain
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site isn't:

  • An official tourism resource
  • Sponsored review site
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Forward

Our time in Spain goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.

If you have questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Elena
